Family Share Their Home With Black Snakes & Other Creepy Crawlies (Video)

Imagine residing in a home on an estate that is home to every form of slithery creature known to man. That’s what the new owners of The Forge House, who chronicle their adventures in renovating a dilapidated home in rural Pennsylvania, US, are currently trying to do.

According to Tyler, a TikTok user and the owner of The Forge House, he and his wife Lauren took a major risk and used their life savings to buy a historic property that was 6 000 square feet (or 558 square meters) in size and had been abandoned in the woods for 10 years.

Tyler shared a video titled “Our Roof Is Full of Snakes Apparently” on the most recent TikTok episode of The Forge House, @ouroldhouse, revealing that their home was being “overrun” by snakes.

“Lauren was walking out of the kitchen today and noticed that there were two black snakes casually climbing the wall and going into a tiny hole that leads to the underside of our porch roof. Now this is right after she almost tripped over another giant black snake that was just hanging out right outside the door, ” said Tyler.

The owner of the home claims that every time they publish a video of a snake, people always comment that they shouldn’t be concerned about or do anything to the black snakes, which has also been their policy.

“The black snakes are here to stay!” said Tyler.

The fact that the snakes are “getting kind of big”—one snake is nearly 7 feet (2.2 meters) long—is what worries him. He continues by saying that his problem is that if he gets rid of the black snakes, they might be replaced on the land with copperheads, another, worse type of snake.

What if we simply don’t want snakes in our home? The homeowner asked, “What’s the best method to do that?

There are other species that live nearby on the grounds of The Forge House besides copperheads and black snakes. The TikTok user has an extensive playlist called “Wildlife” where they document their encounters with different critters such as spiders, carpenter bees, lantern flies, and a ladybug infestation that live on the land.
