Fani-Kayode Says About His Encounter With DSS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council’s Director of Special Projects and New Media, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has described how men from the Department of State Services (DSS) interrogated him for five hours on Monday.

The DSS high command had invited Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, to its Abuja office, where he was probed for reportedly alleging that some military generals were meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to perhaps organize a coup.

Fani-Kayode told a press conference on Monday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja that he was severely interrogated for five hours, an experience he would not wish on his worst enemy.

The former minister, however, said that the DSS agents dealt with him in the most professional manner and did not torture him.

He said, however, that he was not discharged and was instead summoned to come to the DSS headquarters on Wednesday for further questioning.

Fani-Kayode said, “I spent about five hours. I was subjected to thorough grilling; they were very thorough and highly professional in their interrogation. And I was asked to go back on Wednesday for further interrogation.

“The place anybody wouldn’t want to go, I think is the DSS. If I were to do it a second time, I won’t tweet this same way.”

Speaking during the press conference, the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga said, “We were worried when we heard that FFK was invited by the DSS.

“So we contacted our lawyers and our lawyers followed him to the DSS headquarters. If he was detained beyond today, we would have challenged it. We would have taken further steps. But he said the DSS officials were very professional.”

Fani-Kayode, who was once a member of the PDP, decamped to the APC, the party which he once accused of an agenda to Islamise Nigeria.

He had accused the APC of wanting to fly a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket but is now the Campaign Council Director of Special Projects and New Media of the same ticket.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
