Father Shoots Wife And 3 Daughters Dead Inside Home

According to authorities, a father of five allegedly shot his wife and three adult daughters to death inside their home in a Chicago suburb on Sunday morning, January 21.

Tinley Park Public Safety and ABC 7 Chicago reported that the four ladies were killed in a “domestic-related shooting” inside a residence on 173rd Street in Tinley Park shortly before 11:30 a.m.

According to police and a dispatcher call, a man inside the home contacted 911 to report the mass killing and was arrested on the spot.

“A male subject said his wife was shot. The line disconnected. He wasn’t really cooperative,” the dispatcher said.

When requesting additional units, the dispatcher referred to the scene as “a massacre.”

Officers discovered the deaths of four women identified by the Cook County medical examiner as Majeda Kassem, 59, Halema Kassem, 25, Zahia Kassem, 25, and Hanan Kassem, 24, according to the local station. Each had received bullet wounds.

According to local sources, they arrested a guy at the site, who is thought to be the victims’ partner and father, and recovered a handgun.

A neighbour who knew the family, which consisted of the husband and wife, three adult daughters, and two grown sons, said the news of the heinous crime was “shocking” to hear on Sunday morning, considering that the victims and alleged killer were “such a good family that had a bright future.”

“My daughter knows them,” Charlotte Vaitkus told ABC 7. “She went to school with the oldest son, and she employed the twin sisters. She always talked about how they were all very intelligent, and they had very high goals in life.”

Some of the children aspired to be pharmacists or doctors, she said.

According to Village Manager Patt Carr, there had been no past law enforcement calls to the residence.
