FG Declares Dates For Eid Kabir As Public Holidays

To commemorate the celebration of Eid Kabir this year, the Federal government has declared July 11 and 12 as public holidays.

Rauf Aregbesola, the minister of interior who made the announcement, wished all Muslims and Nigerians, both at home and abroad, a happy occasion in a statement which was publicly disclosed.

He said, “I call on Muslims to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, kindness and sacrifice, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of the country, considering the challenges of insecurity we face at the moment.”

According to Aregbesola, President Buhari’s administration is “committed to the security of lives and properties of all Nigerians, empowering the citizens for successful living, the provisions of social investments programmes and adequate security in the schools.”

While wishing Muslims a happy Eid-el-Kabir, Aregbesola urged Nigerians to take responsibility by using the N-Alerts application to alert law enforcement of any suspicious persons or criminal activity they had seen nearby. This is especially important during this festival as N-Alerts has been designed to help mitigate security challenges with rapid response from security agencies.

He also urged all Nigerians to watch out for trespassers in their communities. As we celebrate this year’s celebration.

He said, “We must all take responsibility for the security of lives and property as we celebrate this year’s festival.”

Aregbesola pleaded for all Nigerians to unite, combine their resources, and put their heads, hearts, and souls together in order to reach a state of relative calm for peaceful coexistence and put an end to insecurities in Nigeria.

The Minister reassured all Nigerians that the government would uphold the rule of law, maintain law and order, and maintain peace at all times.
