FG Fulfils 28-Year-Old Promise To 1994 Super Eagles Squad

The Nigerian federal government has delivered on its pledge to give houses to members of the 1994 Super Eagles.

Three members of the 1994 Super Eagles and others received the keys to a three-bedroom bungalow from FG, fulfilling a 28-year-old promise.

Mutiu Adepoju, Ike Shorunmu, and Finidi George were the beneficiaries of the houses from the 1994 crew. The team’s doctor Akin Amao also received a house key.

The minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola gave the players the keys at the project site in Akinyele Local Government, Oyo State, saying, “The beneficiaries are among the first set of Nigerians including the 1994 Super Eagles who would be handed keys to their houses that was promised by the Federal government over 28 years ago.

“We have entered a season of completion and handover of keys to beneficiaries in 35 states and the FCT to Nigerians who have successfully subscribed through the open ministry’s website for the sales of these completed houses.”

Seyi Makinde, the state governor, expressed his gratitude for the major project taking place in the state and promised that the state government will assign the project’s land to the federal ministry of labor and housing.

Makinde, who was speaking on behalf of the Director of Land Management, asked the ministry to utilize more areas of the allotted lands.

Adepoju, Shorunmu, and Yetunde Adeniyi, who filled in for Amao, thanked God for granting them the opportunity to witness such a momentous occasion in a post-program interview with news reporters.

Adepoju said, “I just have to be thankful to God and President Buhari for doing this during our lives time. 28 years, I am happy and thank God for the honour.”

Shoronmu said, “I’ve never lost any hope in my country because if do I would have relocated to Europe.”

The Super Eagles team won the Africa Cup of Nations Cup (AFCON) competition in Tunisia in 1994.
