FG Partners with States to Tackle Insecurity, Says Shettima

The Federal Government is collaborating with state governments to address the country’s insecurity challenges, Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed. Shettima emphasized that the government will not tolerate any sanctuary for those seeking to displace people or occupy Nigerian soil.

The Vice President made this statement after recent attacks in Borno State, which resulted in casualties among security personnel and civilians. He assured that the government is deploying additional tactical assets and intelligence-driven reinforcements to affected areas.

Shettima also commended Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, for his efforts in addressing security and humanitarian challenges in the state. The Vice President emphasized that the federal government will continue to strengthen collaboration with the state to achieve lasting peace.

In a related development, the Federal Government has launched the Safe Nigeria Initiative, a youth-focused program aimed at empowering 11,000 young people to address insecurity across the country. The initiative offers vocational training, entrepreneurial support, peacebuilding education, and psychosocial care to youths, particularly those in vulnerable and conflict-affected communities.

The government has also unveiled a Proof of Address system to tackle insecurity and improve service delivery. The system is designed to provide every resident with a verifiable and secure address, which will be integrated into administrative processes across the public and private sectors.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that addressing insecurity remains a top priority for the current administration. Akpabio noted that the Federal Government is collaborating with the international community to address security challenges and ensure national stability.

The government’s efforts to tackle insecurity have been ongoing, with President Bola Tinubu directing the swift and total mobilization of the security architecture to address recent attacks. The President has also called on Nigerians to remain patient and support the government’s efforts to restore stability and unity.

The situation in Borno State remains a concern, with the state being the epicenter of the Boko Haram insurgency and attacks by the Islamic State West Africa Province since 2009.
