FIFA World Cup 2022: Rapper Drake Places $1 million Bet On Argentina

Canadian artist; Drake has attracted attention following his massive $1 million wager on Argentina to defeat France in the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday.

Drake posted a screenshot of the wager on his Instagram page. If La Albiceleste defeats France, Drake will be paid $1.75 million.

Fans are concerned that Drake’s backing of Argentina could cause problems for Lionel Messi and his team. The artist has a notorious association with the ‘Drake curse’ phenomenon.

According to this phenomenon, any team or person that receives support from Drake ends up having some sort of terrible luck, which means they either lose the game or play dreadfully.

Social media users were not pleased with Drake’s decision to support Argentina. Alphonso Davies, a superstar for Bayern Munich and a native of Canada, had a meeting with his compatriots before the World Cup began.

Netizens claim that the “Drake curse” struck the North American team, causing them to lose all three of their group matches and go on to lose the World Cup, contrary to expectations that Canada would pull a few shocks in the tournament.

Notably, Drake has previously garnered media attention for his extraordinarily risky wagers. The rapper bet $649,000 that Barcelona would defeat Real Madrid in the El Clasico.

Drake, however, lost the wager after the Catalunya team was defeated 3-1 by the defending La Liga winners. Messi’s World Cup victory would solidify his status as one of the best athletes to have ever played the game and win practically everything, and Argentine supporters around the world have been yearning for it.

In 2014, the 35-year-old came dangerously close to winning the title, but Germany got in his way.

Messi will have to defeat the reigning champs France on Saturday. Argentina will want the luck factor to work in their favor because it won’t be an easy match.
