Former Arsenal Goalkeeper Comes Out Of Replacement To Join Barca

Wojciech Szczesny, a Polish goalkeeper, is poised to join Barcelona as an emergency substitute goalkeeper following an agreement with the Spanish club.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper planned to retire after his contract with Juventus expired, but he will now return to play for Barcelona.

According to Fabrizio Romano, an agreement has been reached between the parties concerned following a horrific knee injury to Barcelona’s No. 1 Marc-Andre ter Stegen, which terminated his season prematurely.

Ter Stegen, 32, was stretchered off during Barcelona’s 5-1 victory over Villarreal, and manager Hansi Flick immediately recognized it was a ‘major injury’, according to DAZN.

The German international ruptured the patellar tendon, which joins the kneecap to the shinbone in his right knee.

Barcelona are apparently preparing to officially sign former Gunner Szczesny on a one-year contract as he comes out of retirement.

A medical is scheduled for later this week in Spain before joining the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad.

The club will also be able to pay him up to 80% of Ter Stegen’s £7.5 million salary.

The 34-year-old, who has 84 caps for Poland, has made 200 appearances for Juventus in seven years since arriving from Arsenal for £12.5 million.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
