Owen Hargreaves, a former Bayern Munich midfielder, has stated that when people mock Cristiano Ronaldo, he laughs to himself.
Those who claim that the United forward is the problem of the EPL team have been lambasted by the former England player. He stated that United would not be where they are now if it weren’t for Ronaldo.
On Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to help Manchester United rise to fifth position in the Premier League table.
The Portuguese superstar struck twice in the first 32 minutes, but two goals from the visitors on both sides of halftime set up a tight game finish.
With 14 minutes left in the second half, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner took a free-kick and scored to give Manchester United the win, scoring his 60th career hat-trick.
Owen said, “I was just laughing to myself when people criticize Cristiano Ronaldo and say he’s the problem.
“How on earth is he the problem? He’s one of the only reasons they are where they are.
“David De Gea has been their player of the season, and Cristiano Ronaldo is a close second. Not many people played well today, but Cristiano did.
“That game could’ve been anything, but Ronaldo gets the job done we know that. And credit it to him. He just showed he’s huge in big moments.”
