Chief Audu Ogbeh, a former Agriculture and Rural Development Minister, passed away at the age of 78.

The family of the late Elder Statesman signed and released a statement on Saturday that included this information.

The older statesman died peacefully on August 9, 2025, the statement said.

It read in part: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Chief Audu Ogbeh,” the statement read. “He departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community.”

Through decades of public work, Ogbeh established a great example and affected many lives, according to his family.

On July 28, 1947, the late Ogbeh was born in what is now Benue State. From 1967 to 1969, he studied at King’s College in Lagos.

From 1969 to 1972, he attended Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, and from 1973 to 1974, he attended the University of Toulouse in France.
