Former NLC President Kidnapped In Kaduna

Comrade Takai Shamang, former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, has been kidnapped in his hometown of Biniki, in Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Shamang, 78, previously served as president general of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers (now the National Union of Electricity Employees) from 1982 to 1989.

The president and founder of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans, and Needy Foundation, often known as the GAWON Foundation, is a well-known community figure who has done substantial humanitarian work.

His daughter, Grace Yohanna Abbin, confirmed the incident to press on Sunday, saying her father was kidnapped at his home in Biniki around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Abbin, Manager of Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) Kafanchan, stated that a huge number of kidnappers broke into her father’s home and forcibly carried him away to an unknown location.

She stated that officials are investigating the situation and working to secure his release. “The community and family members are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in his safe return,” according to her.

She stated that his family, friends, and well-wishers are still hopeful for his safe return.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
