From Grassroots to the Red Chamber: Mahmud Sadis Buba Hands APC Nomination Form to Akpabio

Thirty-year-old APC aspirant Mahmud Sadis Buba has formally presented his House of Representatives nomination form for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, marking a symbolic endorsement of his 2027 ambition. The brief but high-profile handover took place in Abuja, drawing attention to one of the youngest contenders in Kaduna State’s political landscape.

Buba, who announced his candidacy on his official Facebook page on Monday, confirmed he had secured the APC nomination form to contest the Sabon Gari seat in Kaduna State. In his declaration, he said his decision was driven by a commitment to provide “honest representation and purposeful leadership” for residents of the constituency. The aspirant added that his campaign would prioritize addressing residents’ concerns and ensuring their voices are heard at the national level.

The young politician described his journey from humble beginnings to seeking elective office as proof of his belief in hard work, resilience, and equal opportunity. He stressed that his aspiration is not a personal project but a “collective movement” aimed at securing a better future for Sabon Gari. Buba appealed to constituents for support, prayers, and trust as he embarks on the political race, urging unity for inclusive development.

Buba’s move has already sparked conversation online, with some observers dubbing him “Nigeria’s shortest lawmaker in the making.” At 30, his entry into the race reflects a growing wave of youth participation in APC politics ahead of the 2027 general elections. His supporters say his energy and fresh perspective could reinvigorate representation in Sabon Gari, a constituency that has faced long-standing infrastructure and service challenges.

Sabon Gari has been an APC stronghold in recent years. In the last election cycle, Garba Datti-Babawo retained the seat for the party with 52,817 votes, defeating the PDP’s Bashir Ibrahim-Sakadadi who polled 27,571 votes. With the seat currently held by APC, Buba’s bid signals an attempt to consolidate the party’s grip while positioning himself as a new face for the next legislative term.

By presenting his form to Akpabio, Buba appears to be seeking the backing of the party’s top leadership as he builds momentum for the primaries. While Akpabio has not publicly commented on the endorsement, the gesture is being read as a strategic alignment that could strengthen Buba’s profile among APC delegates in Kaduna. The aspirant has pledged to focus on community development, job creation, and infrastructure if elected.
