From Nollywood to Government House: Enugu Governor Peter Mbah Appoints Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, Eucharia Anunobi As Aides

Nollywood has come to Enugu Government House.

Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has appointed two of Nollywood’s most popular faces – Rachel Okonkwo (Nkoli Nwa Nsukka) and veteran actress Eucharia Anunobi – as political aides in his administration.

The appointments were contained in a public announcement issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.

According to the statement, Governor Mbah approved the appointment of 101 aides across three categories: 7 Special Advisers, 6 Senior Special Assistants (SSA) and 88 Special Assistants (SA), with immediate effect.

Who Got What?

1. Rachel Okonkwo – SSA on Film and Creative Industry Development

Rachael Okonkwo, whose full name is Nnenna Rachael Okonkwo, is best known for her leading role in the blockbuster movie _Nkoli Nwa Nsukka_. She hails from *Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu State* and has built a career in Nollywood since the mid-2000s.

Her new role puts her directly in charge of advising the governor on how to grow Enugu’s film and creative economy – a sector Mbah has promised to make a job-creation engine for youth.

She will serve alongside 5 other SSAs including Barr. Okey Ude (Inter-Party and Mobilisation), Hon. Chinedu Chukwunwike (Party Monitoring), and Frank Udemezue (SME Development).

2. Eucharia Anunobi – SA on Women Mobilisation, Enugu-North Zone

Veteran actress Eucharia Anunobi, who rose to fame in the 1990s and has featured in over 90 Nollywood films before becoming an evangelist, was appointed Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for Enugu-North Zone.

Her role will focus on grassroots women engagement and political mobilisation in the Enugu-North senatorial zone.

She is listed among the 88 Special Assistants whose portfolios span security intelligence, market decongestion, health facility maintenance, youth engagement, forest protection, civic education and non-indigene relations.

Governor Mbah’s inclusion of Nollywood stars is seen as a strategic move to blend popularity, creativity and governance – leveraging the influence of entertainment icons to drive youth and women inclusion ahead of 2027.

The announcement has already generated buzz on social media, with fans congratulating _Nkoli Nwa Nsukka_ for returning home to serve.

The 101 new aides join a growing list of political appointees as Mbah consolidates his administration’s grassroots structure across the 17 LGAs of Enugu State.
