FRSC Holds Sensitization Rally on Proper Licensing among Drivers

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Abia State Sector Command, has held a sensitization rally for motorcycle and tricycle operators on driver’s licensing.

The event held at Ibeku High School, Umuahia, on Wednesday, themed” Promoting Safe Driving Through Proper Licensing was aimed at enlightening motorcycle and tricycle operators on the importance of proper licensing.

During the event, which attracted a large turnout of stakeholders, motorcycle and tricycle operators across the state, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Ngozi Ezeoma, emphasized the legal and safety implications of operating motorcycles and tricycles without valid licenses.

Ezeoma called on operators to view licensing not as a burden, but as a crucial step toward professionalism and road safety.

She said, “Obtain the Class A driver’s license as soon as possible. Do not wait until enforcement begins – take advantage of this sensitization to register with any of the FRSC accredited driving schools and comply with the new requirement.”

In their separate responses, the Abia State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Dr. Obioma Nwogbe, reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to safer roads and improved regulation of commercial transport operators.

Southeastposts reports that the State Co-ordinator of the Special Marshals, represented by his Deputy, Barr. Kingsley Nwachi, officers and men of the FRSC, and members of the Special Marshal Unit, as well as a representation of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), led by their Chairman, Comrade Apollos Chinweotito, participated actively in the event alongside numerous tricycle operators.

The rally served as part of the FRSC Abia State’s broader strategy to reduce road traffic crashes and ensure full compliance with licensing regulations across the state’s commercial transport sector.

Also during the rally, the FRSC Abia State Command reaffirmed its resolve to continue educating and collaborating with stakeholders in promoting safe and responsible driving across the state.

Highlights of the event included: a safety tips session delivered by the Sector Public Education Officer, an interactive Q&A segment, and contributions from participants.
