Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo Calls On Buhari, Other African Leaders To Stop Borrowing Money

Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has called on other African leaders to stop begging the Western nations for financial assistance so that Africa can gain respect on a global scale.

According to Akufo-Addo, if the African nations quit begging, the developed nations’ negative impressions of the continent will change. This was said by the president of Ghana while speaking at the ongoing US-African Leaders Summit in Washington, DC.

He stated that money should be invested in Africa so that it might become prosperous and gain respect.

The Ghanaian President said, “If we stop being beggars and spend African money inside the continent, Africa will not need to ask for respect from anyone, we will get the respect we deserve. If we make it prosperous as it should be, respect will follow.”

He claimed that if Africa does the right thing, respect will come to them naturally and they won’t even need to ask for it.

He said, “Africans are more resilient outside the continent than inside. We must bear in mind that to the outside world, nothing like Nigeria, Ghana or Kenya, we are simply Africans. Our destiny as people depends on each other.”

He raised a warning that everyone in a position of leadership in Africa must recognize their urgent duty to make Africa attractive to its people by offering high-quality education and the skills necessary to operate the modern economy.

He said, “We must work together to change Africa’s narrative which is characterized by disease, hunger, poverty and illegal migration. No matter where you come from, as long as you are black, you are African. We must make Africa conducive for progress and prosperity.”

President Akufo-Addo’s warning comes the same day that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to lend Ghana $3 billion (£2.4 billion) to help the country recover from an unheard-of economic crisis.
