Ghislaine Maxwell To Appeal 20 Years Sentence Over Child S*x Trafficking

Ghislaine Maxwell, a disgraced British socialite, will begin her appeal to get her 20-year sentence for child s*x trafficking overturned by arguing that one of the jurors who found her guilty violated the law by speaking to his psychiatrist during the trial.

The 20,000-word appeal must be submitted to the US Court of Appeals 2nd Circuit in New York before the deadline on Tuesday,

According to The Mail On Sunday, the appeal brought by Harvey Weinstein’s disgraced attorney Arthur Aidala, who also represents Maxwell, will center on whether Juror 50 disobeyed the judge’s orders not to discuss the case.

Her appeal is anticipated now that it is believed that her divorce papers have been submitted to a US judge, allowing her access to a portion of her enormous wealth, according to The Sun.

She gave her spouse Scott Borgerson her financial and real estate holdings while she was on the run.

Juror 50, who went by the name Scotty David, also omitted the fact that he had experienced sexual abuse, which he later said enabled him to ‘influence’ the other jurors during the deliberations.

Mr. Borgerson, however, declined to cover her legal expenses after their marriage broke down.

She is anticipated to use the £25 million she will receive from her divorce deal to challenge her conviction.

Speaking about the appeal, a source told the Mail On Sunday: “The juror admitted he called his psychiatrist during deliberations because he was so upset. This is in clear violation of the judge’s order not to discuss the case with anyone.

“It doesn’t matter that he was calling a medical professional. He clearly broke the rules and violated the jurors’ oath which gives strong grounds for appeal.”

At least two additional jurors failed to reveal that they had experienced sexual assault, according to Maxwell’s attorneys.

The source continued, “Her lawyers will argue that Ms. Maxwell was not tried by 12 fair and impartial jurors.”

The British socialite was found guilty on five counts stemming from her alleged status as paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s “madam” in December 2021.

The disgraced financier committed suicide in jail in 2019 after being detained on child rape allegations.
