The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, disclosed that God cautioned him that his firstborn would perish if he departed from the RCCG.
Adeboye revealed this during the Holy Ghost Service titled “Destined for Greatness (Part 2),” which took place at Redemption City, Ogun State.
While stressing the significance of divine guidance and spiritual steadfastness, he referenced a sermon previously given by his son, Pastor Leke Adeboye.
He voiced concern that many young Christians today often switch from one church to another, frequently presenting themselves as first-timers in new congregations.
Pastor Adeboye recounted that when he became born again, three prominent ministries were flourishing at the time, and despite the allure of joining them, God directed him to stay with the RCCG.
“When I got born again, there were three major ministries making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another,” he said.
“But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die.’”
He highlighted that the RCCG was relatively obscure at the time, with its headquarters located in a modest building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Despite his position as a university lecturer, Adeboye said God instructed him to submit to the authority of his spiritual father, who lacked formal education.
“I was a university lecturer. My father in the Lord didn’t attend secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay,” he added.
He encouraged the congregation, particularly the youth, to seek and remain in the place God has designated for them.
“Discover where God wants you to stay, and stay there,” he advised.
However, Adeboye made it clear that his remarks were not intended to suggest superiority over other Christian denominations.
“I am not saying we are better than any other denomination,” he emphasized.
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
