God’s commands are His enablements

It is possible to do work for God that may not be the work of God. This kind of work doesn’t guarantee His strength. If God tells you to do something, He gives you the power to do it. If we lack the strength to complete a task or if we are faced with bodily, mental, or emotional collapse, we may well question if we’ve missed His purpose and are instead focusing on our own needs.

Peter knew this secret. He knew that, left to himself, he couldn’t walk on water. But He also knew that if the Lord told him to do it, then he could do it. As soon as Jesus said, “Come,” Peter jumped out of the boat and walked across the sea to Him. Normally, a mountain would not fall into the sea at our command. But if that mountain stands in the way of God’s purpose being fulfilled, we can say, “Be removed,” and it will be.

The bottom line is that “God’s commands are His enablements.” As a result, He will provide the strength to face any challenge. He will provide us with the strength to resist every temptation and to break every habit. He will strengthen us to have pure thoughts and to constantly do what pleases His heart. Knowing that we are moving in the path of God’s plan is critical. Only then can we have the joyful confidence that His grace will strengthen and enable us.
