Goodluck Jonathan Expresses Intent To Run In 2027 Presidential Race, Plans Extensive Consultations

The former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has stated that he will begin talking about his possible participation in the 2027 presidential contest.

Jonathan made this statement in Abuja on Thursday.

This comes after a group of supporters marched to his office and demanded that he run for president.

“Peace is the most important thing this nation needs. Therefore, the majority of you here—more than 80% of you—are young individuals.

“I’m not even sure how old some of you were when I was president, but the most important thing is peace in this country, and you will keep pushing for peaceful and credible elections because most decent people won’t want to bother getting involved in politics if we don’t have peaceful and credible elections.

“And you will keep pushing for that as young people. For us, a peaceful election is absolutely important, and indeed you as young people must continue to be fully involved in the electoral processes, especially your right to vote.

“I have witnessed elections in at least 14 African nations, some of which I have visited twice.

“I heard you and I will consult widely, but the most important thing is that the young people in Nigeria will have plans for our grandchildren,” Jonathan stated. “Presidential race is not a computer game.”
