Yinka Alaseyori, a gospel singer, has faced backlash on social media for implying that prayers are essential to ensuring the release of teachers and students kidnapped in Oyo State.
In a widely shared video, the singer stirred up controversy by defending President Bola Tinubu and security services amid mounting worries about the nation’s insecurity.
“You cannot say that the president and vice president are not doing what they are supposed to do. They are working,” she said.
“We all need prayers, from the president to the last person. Those children there are our children, my children. Even security personnel could have proceeded to save the children but could have been prevented by a spiritual darkness. So, that is where prayers come into play.”
I firmly believe that prayer is powerful and can work miracles in times of crisis. Our collective prayers can bring hope, healing, and divine intervention.
However, while prayer is essential, it is equally important for the government to take decisive and drastic actions to address the root causes of such incidents. Real change requires a combination of spiritual faith and proactive governance to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
