Former Nigerian Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, stating that he’s doing his best for the country. Gowon made this remark during a visit to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he expressed appreciation for the president’s efforts to address Nigeria’s challenges.
Gowon highlighted Tinubu’s progress in key sectors, including politics, economy, and social development, as well as his efforts to tackle insecurity. “Isn’t he doing the best he can all round?” Gowon asked rhetorically, adding that Tinubu is looking after Nigeria’s interests in all areas.
The former head of state acknowledged the complexity of Nigeria’s security challenges but emphasized that Tinubu is taking necessary steps to address the situation. He urged Nigerians to remain patient and support the government’s efforts to restore stability and unity.
Gowon stated that his visit was primarily to appreciate Tinubu’s efforts and acknowledge the progress Nigeria is making under his leadership. He expressed confidence that the administration would continue to make progress in delivering good governance and strengthening national cohesion.
When asked about areas where Tinubu could improve, Gowon declined to single out any particular sector, saying the president is addressing national challenges across the board. He emphasized that leadership requires balancing multiple priorities simultaneously, and Tinubu must continue to safeguard Nigeria’s interests.
The visit comes amid ongoing consultations and engagements between Tinubu and prominent national leaders on governance, security, and national development. Gowon expressed optimism that the government’s efforts would eventually yield peace and stability in the country.
Gowon’s visit and commendation are seen as a significant endorsement of Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting the progress Nigeria is making under his administration.
