Guest House Owner Arrested For Allegedly Beating Man To Death

Obowo Divisional Headquarters in Imo state has arrested Mr. Ibe Obasi, 38, the owner of a guest home in the region, for reportedly beating to death a 25-year-old man, Ebuka Udemba, an indigene of Umuokpa in the state’s Obowo LGA.

Preliminary inquiries found that the victim was accused of stealing a customer’s mobile.

The suspect and two others who are still at large allegedly tortured and trapped Udemba inside the guest house’s generator room, where he suffocated to death.

The police quickly detained Obasi and transported him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri to consolidate the ongoing investigation.

Confirming the arrest to journalists. The command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, stated that Obasi has supplied vital information that will assist the determined officers in apprehending all suspects in the case.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the remote circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and to ensure that all suspects involved are apprehended and punished to the fullest extent of the law.

While commiserating with the victim’s families, friends, and relatives, the Commissioner of Police strongly condemns the cruel act and urges the people of Obowo LGA, particularly Umulogho residents, to refrain from taking the law into their own hands because the Command is on top of the situation and has launched a thorough investigation to apprehend the suspects linked to the murder and bring them to justice.
