Gunmen kidnap Catholic priest in Taraba

Gunmen suspected of kidnapping Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Tarhembe, a Catholic priest, in Taraba State.

In a statement, the Catholic Diocese of Wukari’s Communication Officer, John Jerome Laikei, confirmed the incident.

According to Fr. Laikei, the priest was kidnapped in his parish, Saint Ann’s Parish, Sarkin Kudu in the state’s Ibi Local Government Area, in the early hours of Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Residents were urged to pray for his safety and prompt return, according to the statement.

Abdullahi Usman, a spokesman for the state Police Command, confirmed the incident.
