Gunmen Storms Baptist Church, Kidnaps Wife Of Imo State’s Zoo Manager

The wife of the general manager of the Imo State Zoo, Mrs Bola Abioye, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen who purportedly stormed into the First Baptist Church Nekede in Imo State.

According to the Daily Post, the gunmen, who came in an ash-coloured Sienna, were wearing police vests.

The kidnappers stormed the church at around 1:30 p.m. right after the Sunday service and began shooting randomly.

According to a church member who identified herself as Dr Blessing, the church had just finished its Thanksgiving service when the shooters opened fire as everyone was leaving for the celebration venue.

She said, “The church had just dismissed so everyone was heading to the car park with the intention to go to the home of the member, only for an Ash-coloured Sienna vehicle to drive in shooting sporadically.

“The abductors who wore police vests were shooting right there at the car park. They first dragged a woman but after some seconds, one of them shouted it’s not this one.

“Before they went to drag Mrs Abioye the zoo manager wife, they were shooting directly to scare people away. Though she tried to resist, there was so much commotion. And within minutes, they drove off still shooting.”

Michael Abattam, the police public relations officer (PPRO) when contacted, stated that the command had not yet been informed about the obnoxious incident and that he would provide more information soon.
