Harry Kane Reveals Why He Lost The Second Penalty Against France

Harry Kane, the captain of England, made his first public comments after missing the crucial penalty that would have tied England and France in their World Cup quarterfinal matchup on Saturday.

The 30-year-old took responsibility for his country’s elimination from the World Cup after missing his second penalty in the game.

Following Oliver Giroud’s header to give France the lead, the Three Lions were given a great chance to tie the 2-1 score after Theo Hernandez pushed Mason Mount inside France’s penalty area late in the second half.

The Tottenham captain, who had cancelled Aurélien Tchouaméni’s goal, tying the score for his country from the penalty spot in the 54th minute, stepped up and blasted his shot going high over Hugo Lloris’ crossbar.

Speaking after the match, Harry Kane said, “As the captain and the one who missed the penalty, I take responsibility for that.

He continued, “I prepare [the same] if I get one penalty or two penalties in a game. I can’t fault my preparation or the details before the game.

“I felt confident taking it, I just didn’t execute it the way I wanted to. Of course, it will be something I have to live with and take on the chin,” the English captain said.

With the outcome of the quarterfinal round of matches, Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, and England had to say goodbye to Qatar, while Croatia, Argentina, Morocco, and France continue to compete for the most cherished trophy in world football.

France will face a tough and unyielding Moroccan team in the semifinals on Wednesday and will be hoping to maintain their impressive run, as Morocco has only conceded one goal during the competition.

Also, Lionel Messi’s Argentina will be facing Luka Modric’s Croatia on Tuesday, December 13th.

The finals will be played on Sunday, December 18th.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
