Have You Checked Your Gmail? Google Has Redesigned Its Entire Gmail Website

Google has unveiled a major change to Gmail accounts. A big upgrade has been made to the popular email service that brings a fresh look and new features to every single account.

The US technology giant is now rolling out a new experience that combines Meet, Chat, and Spaces – its messaging, video, and group conversation features – into the main Gmail client.

It also launches Google’s ‘Material You’ design feature that makes the compose button a square rectangle and adds a new shade to the compose button, side panel, and read emails. The changes will allow users to tweak the design so things can be customized based on what works best for them.

Content You’re Coming to for each user, while the new unified view — which houses the side panel with Mail, Chat, Space, and Meets icons — is rolling out to everyone who enables the chat function.

For users who don’t like the new format, they can switch back to the old Gmail view via the Quick Settings menu. In the top right to navigate, click Settings, then under Quick Settings, click Back to the original Gmail view, then click Reload.

“Label lovers will see separate sections for system labels (such as starred, reminded, and important) and custom labels you create yourself. And conversation bubbles with snippets of incoming messages to those who prefer to chat will appear along with the option of a quick reply instead of opening the full message, Google said in a blog post announcing changes.

Google is also bringing search chips to Inbox to help it quickly search through emails containing unread messages or attachments, and improve search results that suggest better matches.

Later this year, Google will improve the Gmail experience for tablet users with better emoji, new accessibility features, and more.

Speaking in a post on its blog Gmail Product Manager, Neena Kamath, said: “Gmail has changed a lot over the past 18 years, and since the beginning, we’ve aspired to help billions of people around the world stay connected and get things done. Our latest changes bring helpful updates to every Gmail user, including the best of Google Workspace, combined with a fresh new look based on Google’s Material Design 3.”

In case you have checked your Gmail and no changes yet, don’t sweat, there’s no official word on when everyone will be upgraded to the new Gmail but expect your inbox to change in the coming weeks.
