Hope Comes to Anambra: First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to Empower 5,000, Launch Food Bank Today

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, arrives in Anambra State today, Thursday, September 10, 2026, for her first official visit to the state since assuming office.

The visit will focus on economic empowerment, food security, and direct support for vulnerable residents, in partnership with the Anambra State Government.

A major highlight is the empowerment of 5,000 beneficiaries drawn from Anambra’s 21 local government areas.

The initiative is championed by Mrs. Nonye Soludo, First Lady of Anambra State, under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Support Scheme.

Senator Tinubu will flag off the programme at Ekwueme Square, Awka.
Beneficiaries will receive business grants, vocational tools and equipment to support enterprises in:
– Agriculture and agro-processing
– Beauty care
– Other small-scale businesses

The First Lady will also launch the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East Geopolitical Zone at the Old Government House, Amawbia.

The RHI programme is designed to provide direct support to *widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable families* through:
– Food items
– Nutrition education
– Agricultural support

Another key engagement is a visit to the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where Senator Tinubu is expected to commission a new ICT Centre for students.

The visit comes on the heels of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s last trip to Anambra, where he described the relationship between the Federal Government and the Soludo administration as one based on “partnership and shared prosperity.”

President Tinubu had also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his development strides in the state.

With thousands of residents set to benefit directly from the grants and food-support initiatives, today’s engagement is expected to deepen collaboration between Abuja and Awka.

The First Lady’s visit reinforces the Renewed Hope Initiative’s push to take federal welfare programmes closer to the grassroots across the country.
