Hospital Officials Drop Patient In Front Of Her Husband’s Shop

There was some confusion when representatives of an unidentified hospital dropped off a sick woman named as Blessing Ayeni in front of her husband’s shop on Desalu Street, Odo-Ona, in the Ibadan South-West Local Govt Area of Oyo State.

The tragedy happened on Friday afternoon, January 19, 2024, according to the Nigerian Tribune.

Remilekun Tawose, an eyewitness, stated that Blessing had been left at the hospital since last year according to the officials’ claims.

Because of this, the hospital’s only choice was to take her to her husband’s known address—his store, where he sells alcoholic drinks.

It was also learned that hospital staff members informed some residents that they had repeatedly approached the husband to offer to pay his ailing wife’s medical fees, but he had never responded positively.

Tawose further stated that the hospital personnel asserted that Blessing’s immediate relatives had first visited the hospital but had since ceased to do so for reasons that were unclear to the hospital administration.

When the publication arrived at the scene of the sick woman’s drop, she was still on the ground, seeming weak in the intense sun, as the nearby inhabitants looked on helplessly.

“The reason we don’t know what to do at the moment is that officials of the hospital told us that we should not move closer to the sick woman because the ailment she is suffering from is contagious,” Tawose added.

Blessing’s husband was nowhere to be found and his shop was locked, so attempts to find him to hear his version of the story were unsuccessful.
