Huge Fire Rages At Clothing Market In Bangladesh

Tragedy struck a popular clothing market in Bangladesh leading to the loss of lots of property.

Firefighters are putting out a large fire in the capital of Bangladesh that has destroyed a major garment store and spread to other small marketplaces and structures.

According to fire service official Rafi Al Faruk, the fire broke out at Bangabazar Market in Dhaka at 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday, and firefighters from 47 units were working to put out the flames.

After six hours, it was still raging. Anwarul Islam, another member of the fire service, claimed they were unsure of the cause of the blaze.

When Eid-al Fitr, the biggest celebration in Islam, approaches later this month, several store owners in Bangabazar Market started to cry.

“I have two shops here. Everything is gone,” said Mohammed Mohsin as he sobbed. “All my capital has been invested here. Why does God punish me this way?”

Many business owners attempted to salvage some of their possessions but failed because the fire spread so swiftly.

Due to inadequate fire safety measures and weak monitoring, fires frequently occur in commercial buildings in Bangladesh.

Yet, over the past ten years, the nation’s garment sector, which has previously experienced disastrous fires, has substantially improved.
