I Stopped Going To Church Because Of Pope – Phyna

Big Brother Naija season 7 winner, Josephina Otabor, also called Phyna, has revealed why she stopped attending church, particularly Catholic.

She said that she could not understand or accept some of the Pope’s reform of the doctrines so she decided to stop going to church.

Phyna disclosed that she was a staunch Catholic growing up and through the years, different popes have introduced new practices which did not sit right with her.

The reality TV star opened up during the latest episode of her podcast, Spill With Phyna where she particularly frowned at Pope Francis recent approval for Catholic priests to “bless” same-s*x marriage.

Expressing disapproval, Phyna said; “I stopped going to Church. Initially, I was Catholic; that was my Church growing up, but things come dey go on.

Pope don actually pass different kinds of things then wey no really sit right with me but this recent one of man and man fit come marry for not just any Church but Catholic Church, I just tell myself say no need”.

The truth is that many people like Phyna misinterpreted his message as if marriage laws were being changed in the Catholic Church.

The heart of the Pope’s message is based on the Church’s desire to welcome everyone with God’s love and mercy and the hope of repentance.

It should be noted that the Church’s teaching on marriage has and will never change.

We should not confuse the Pope’s blessing for couples in irregular situations and couples of the same-s*x with marriage equality.
