“If Not For Me, Buhari Wouldn’t Have Been President” – Tinubu

Chief Bola Tinubu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, claims that President Muhammadu Buhari would not have won the 2015 election without his assistance.

Tinubu said while speaking to the Ogun State delegates, “If not me that led the war from the front, Buhari would not have emerged as the president. He contested first, second and third times, but lost. He even said on television that he won’t contest again.

“But I went to his home in Katsina, I told him you would contest and win, but you won’t joke with the matters of the Yorubas.

“Since he has emerged, I have not been appointed Minister. I didn’t get a contract.

“This time, it’s Yoruba’s turn and in Yoruba land, it’s my tenure.”

Tinubu urged the 60 Ogun delegates to vote for him in the APC primary election.

Recall that President Buhari has asked APC governors to assist him in the selection of his successor.

According to the President, state governors were given the option to choose their successors, and he requested that he be given the same opportunity at the federal level.

He said, “In keeping with the established internal policies of the Party and as we approach the Convention in a few days, therefore, I wish to solicit the reciprocity and support of the Governors and other stakeholders in picking my successor, who would fly the flag of our party for election into the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

“We gave governors re-election tickets or opportunity to pick their successors; allow me pick my successor.”
