Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate, has dismissed speculations about defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his dedication to the PDP and his focus on creating a coalition to defeat the ruling party in the 2027 elections.
In a discussion with female members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Atiku highlighted the importance of forming a wide-ranging alliance to confront the APC and restore the nation’s progress.
Atiku stressed that the coalition initiative is not just a tactical political move but a vital measure for national revival. He referenced past examples, mentioning the partnership between the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and the Nigeria Peoples Party (NPP) during the Second Republic, which he termed the NPN-NPP accord, to illustrate the effectiveness of such coalitions.
Atiku clarified that this coalition would not compromise the PDP’s identity or framework, noting that the pan-Nigerian movement he is spearheading includes stakeholders from various political affiliations and regions, all united in their goal to reclaim the nation.
“The coalition movement is not just a political strategy, but a necessity to challenge the ruling party and rebuild the country,” Atiku said, reassuring the PDP women that he has no plans to leave the party.
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
