Immigration Officer Who Refused A N10million Bribe Is Set To Be Honoured In Abia State And Enugu State

In today’s world, where time is valuable and the quest for wealth is unbelievably difficult, the unfortunate average man simply gives in and accepts bribes in order to get on with his life but a Nigerian-born immigration officer; Ugochukwu Prince Orji chooses to uphold his integrity and abide by the ethics of his job by rejecting a N10 million bribe.

Governor Alex Otti is set to honour the Isiala Ngwa Abia State-born immigration officer Ugochukwu Prince Orji for making Abia proud by selflessly carrying out his duties. Orji rejected a N10 million bribe from a notorious native doctor; Levi Obieze, better known as “E dey show,” at the Seme border, while he was trying to flee the country after allegedly carrying out human rituals.

Governor Otti disclosed this when he received in the audience a 30-man delegation of the organizers and sponsors of the Oha Isiala Ngwa Grand Civic Reception/Appreciation in his honour for his visible achievements. He commended the immigration officer for demonstrating honesty and being a good ambassador of his community and Abia State.

‎”I have always made this point that we are straightforward people, we are not criminals. We don’t steal, we don’t cheat. Of course, out of every 12, there must be a Judas. Sometimes the Judas is so loud that he drowns the good jobs of the other 11”, the Governor.

‎ The Governor made it clear that Abia people are hardworking people who believe in decent living.

“What you did is typical of us; you represented us very, very well,’ he stated.

He however pointed out that since the event happened in Enugu State, he has told his counterpart Governor Peter Mbah to begin the celebration and recognition from there so that it would be rounded off at home.

The Governor started his speech by thanking the organizers of the grand civic reception for the sacrifices they have been making to ensure the success of the event.

The leader of the delegation; Sen. Darlington Nwokocha, who revealed that they came to thank the Governor for accepting to be honoured, presented the immigration officer who hails from Obikabia in Isiala Ngwa LGA, Mr. Ugochukwu Promise Orji, to the Governor.

‎In his vote of thanks, the member representing Isiala North and South in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe thanked the Governor for accepting to be honoured even though he was not given to such a public outing. He also thanked the governor for the promise he made to fix the Sam Ihesilor stadium, Okpuala Ngwa, the venue of the grand civic reception.

“As worms are used to bait fish; bribes are used to ensnare fools.” Kudos to Mr. Ugochukwu Promise Orji, the people of Abia State are super proud of you.
