Indian Man Stabs Girlfriend To Death In UK

Sriram Ambarla, a 25-year-old Indian man condemned to 16 years in prison for attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend in London, had looked up how to kill people with knives on the internet just before the attack.

He slit Sona Biju’s throat before stabbing her nine times in a London restaurant in 2022. The incident was captured on video.

Ambarla, a Hyderabad resident, attacked Biju, 23, at the restaurant where she worked after threatening to murder her if she did not consent to marry him.

When Ms Biju refused, saying she “did not want to live by his rules,” Ambarla seized her neck and began stabbing her.

She survived the savage attack, but had to spend a month in the hospital in critical condition.

The Indian was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Thursday, April 25, 2024, after pleading guilty to attempted murder.

He also pled guilty to possessing a weapon without a legitimate justification in a public place, and he was sentenced to 12 months in prison concurrently.

During his sentence hearing, the court was informed that Ambarla had looked online for “What happens if a foreigner murders someone in the UK”, “How easy is it to kill someone with a knife”, and “How to kill a human instantly with a knife”.

In addition to the prison sentence, Ambarla was handed a lifelong restraining order from making contact with the victim.

According to the court, Ambarla had been manipulating and physically and mentally abusing Ms Biju for years before the 2022 attack.

They began dating in 2017, after meeting at a college in Hyderabad. However, the relationship swiftly became toxic, resulting in their split in 2019, during which Ambarla used threats of self-harm to manipulate Ms Biju.

The woman said that he often came up unexpectedly at her residence and attempted to blackmail her into marrying him.

In 2022, Ambarla and Ms Biju relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue a master’s degree at the University of East London, but the abuse persisted.

Ambarla would frequently contact the restaurant she worked at to speak with her and purchase food in the hopes that she would deliver it to his residence.

Weeks after they moved, he went to the restaurant, where Ms Biju treated him like any other customer. He sat there looking at his phone in an unpleasant way, she stated.

Moments later, he approached her and repeated his offer to marry her or kill her. When she declined, he pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed her.

He told the cops that he snapped when he overheard her talking about wanting to celebrate their split.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
