INEC Urges Nigerians To Correct Details And Replace Lost PVCs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has encouraged eligible voters in Bauchi State to visit designated registration centres to make corrections to personal details and replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Resident Electoral Commissioner Umar Ibrahim announced this on Friday, August 22, during a press conference, emphasizing the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Ibrahim clarified that the exercise will include fresh registration for new voters, corrections to personal details such as names, dates of birth, gender, or addresses, replacement of lost, defaced, or damaged PVCs, transfer of voter registration within or across states, and collection of uncollected PVCs from the 2022 CVR.

He stated that both online and physical registration processes are ongoing. “The online pre-registration commenced on Monday, August 18, 2025, while physical registration will officially begin on Monday, August 25, 2025, at designated centres across Bauchi State. Both the online and physical processes will run simultaneously until August 30, 2026. To be eligible, one must be a Nigerian citizen, at least 18 years old, not previously registered, and physically present for biometric capture,” Ibrahim stated.

The REC explained that the online registration portal is accessible 24 hours at cvr.inecnigeria.org, while physical registration will occur at the INEC State Office in Bauchi and at 20 INEC Local Government Offices across the state, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays.

He further mentioned that the Preliminary Register of Voters will be displayed quarterly for public review to allow claims, objections, and corrections, ensuring that only eligible voters are included in the final register.

Ibrahim cautioned that the commission will not tolerate multiple or underage registrations, proxy registration or collection of PVCs, or interference with officials carrying out their duties, emphasizing that such violations carry severe penalties under the Electoral Act 2022.

“I call on all eligible Nigerians in Bauchi State to take full advantage of this opportunity. Please register, update your records where necessary, and collect your PVCs. The Commission remains fully committed to ensuring a free, fair, transparent, and inclusive voter registration process,” he said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
