Insider Secrets: Ex-DSS Officer Breaks Silence On Abacha’s Mysterious Death

General Sani Abacha, the former military head of state of Nigeria, died from cardiac collapse during a sexual encounter, according to a former senior official of the Department of State Services (DSS).

This is an updated version of one of Nigeria’s most divisive political decisions.

In light of the circumstances surrounding Abacha’s untimely death on June 8, 1998—an incident that has been the subject of speculation and conspiracy theories for nearly thirty years—former DSS Assistant Director Dennis Amachree made the claim.

Amachree refutes long-standing rumors that the former military leader was poisoned or killed, claiming that Abacha had a fatal cardiac arrest during a private meeting.

Abacha led one of Nigeria’s most controversial military regimes from November 1993 until his death in June 1998. His administration was characterized by numerous accusations of violations of human rights, the imprisonment of political rivals, and international censure.

His unexpected passing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja sparked a flurry of rumors at the time, including allegations of foreign agent poisoning and enigmatic circumstances surrounding his last hours. However, no formal investigation has ever proven those claims.

Amachree’s story rekindles public discussion about one of the most persistent mysteries in Nigeria’s political history by contributing to the conflicting accounts that have persisted around the former military leader’s death.
