IPOB Distances Itself From Simon Ekpa’s 6 Days Sit-At-Home Order

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have distanced themselves from an announced sit-at-home order in the Southeast, which is set to start on December 9 and end on December 14.

Simon Ekpa, a self-acclaimed disciple of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, reportedly said that a sit-at-home order would be implemented on December 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 in order to halt the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

His action might have something to do with his earlier declaration that the upcoming general elections will hold in the Southeast.

In response to the order issued by Ekpa, IPOB asked the residents of the area to disregard the directive and emphasized that it was not a part of the instruction in a statement released by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful.

The group advised residents to go outside and collect their PVC without being intimidated in any way.

The secessionist organization claimed that certain agents were funding Ekpa in order to spread “unnecessary hardships and insecurity” over the region.

In a statement, the IPOB spokesman said, “Every Biafran and resident in Biafra Land should ignore such orders from untrained and brainless individuals whose agenda is to make Biafra agitation unattractive to our people.

“IPOB cannot issue such a brainless uncaring 5-day consecutive sit-at-home order to suffer our people during this critical time of the year when people are trying to make up in their businesses for the year.

“The conception of consecutive 5-day sit at home by a Nigeria Agent and his sponsors is to show the level of wickedness and hatred they have against our people.

“How wicked! Again, everyone has his or her right to go and collect his or her PVC from their polling and registration centres without molestation. IPOB never boycotts elections and has nothing to do with Nigeria’s shambolic elections.”
