Isha Sesay thought motherhood would come naturally to her at some point. However, as time passed and her career took center stage, she realized that waiting any longer might mean giving up on having a child entirely.
Isha Sesay, a seasoned broadcaster from Sierra Leone and a former anchor for CNN International, explained why she decided to use IVF on her own: she didn’t want to live with the regret of not having a child.
She said:
“I had wanted to have a baby. It was always on the list of things that I was going to do. And then I got to CNN. And it just became about the work. Some people take it as though I did it as an affront or a rejection of men. It’s not a rejection of anyone. It is an embrace of my own autonomy.
Not having a child would be the greatest regret of my life. And with my biological clock ticking down, if I was waiting for the right man to come along before I did it, well, I might find myself out of time.”
Life has a way of throwing surprises and challenges our way, but ultimately, it’s about making the choices that bring us happiness and fulfillment. Isha Sesay’s decision reflects her strength and courage, and we’re glad she is at peace with the path she has chosen. Here’s to embracing our journeys and finding happiness in the choices we make.
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
