Israel And Hamas Negotiate A Deal To Send Aid To Gaza

Inhabitants of Gaza who are Palestinian will see a small amount of relief following an agreement between Israel and Hamas that will see the distribution of medical supplies and humanitarian aid to inhabitants in “the most affected and vulnerable areas” of Gaza.

The distribution of medicine to Israeli prisoners detained by Hamas in Gaza will be in exchange for humanitarian assistance.

The agreement was reached in collaboration with France, according to a statement from the State of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official spokeswoman, announced that the supplies and drugs would travel from Doha to Egypt on Wednesday and then be delivered to Gaza.

According to Al-Ansari, two aircraft from the Qatari Armed Forces will bring the aid and medications into the Gaza Strip tomorrow from Doha to the city of Al-Arish in the neighboring Arab Republic of Egypt.

Al-Ansari emphasized the need to keep working with regional and global allies to resolve the conflict in Gaza, especially concerning humanitarian concerns and medical evacuation.

The agreement was made in response to criticism made earlier this week by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who stated that “life-saving relief is not getting to people who have endured months of relentless assault at anywhere near the scale needed.”

During his tenure, Guterres claimed that the Israeli assault on Gaza, which lasted for more than a hundred days, “has unleashed wholesale destruction and levels of civilian killings at a rate that is unprecedented.”

Along with illness, malnutrition, and other health risks, “the long shadow of starvation is stalking the people of Gaza,” Guterres issued a warning.

The “clear violation of international humanitarian law that we are witnessing,” he stated, “deeply troubles” him.

Once more, Guterres called for an instant humanitarian truce.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
