On Sunday, January 30, the model wife of an international footballer was fatally murdered at a concert.

Cristina Vita Aranda, who has three children with Club Olimpia star Ivan Torres, was reported to have been struck in the crossfire of a gunfight in a VIP area at Asuncion’s Jose Asuncion Flores Ampitheatre.

She was shot in the head and transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead soon after.

According to local accounts, Paraguayan player Torres, a former U20 international, was also at the event and assisted in getting his wife to the hospital.

After ten years of marriage, the pair announced their intention to divorce in January.

Cristina and her husband posed for a Christmas photo together prior to Cristina’s recent statement that they had decided to take a break from their relationship.

They were thought to be trying to mend things between them before Cristina was murdered.

The incident on Sunday is still being evaluated by police and prosecutors.

A guy called Marcos Ignacio Rojas Mora was also killed, with unverified reports claiming that the intended target was a drug dealer named Ederson Salinas Bekilled in the area.

Four other persons, ages 23 to 40, were also shot and were being treated in a hospital on Monday, Jan. 31.

Ivan, who started his career with Cerro Porteno before joining Club Olimpia in December 2014, is believed to have had a panic attack but was unharmed.

Itaugua Nacional Hospital director, Yolanda Gonzalez confirmed Cristina’s death saying, “She was intubated when she arrived and attempts were made to resuscitate her for at least 25 minutes after she went into cardiac arrest.

“She died after the lengthy attempts to save her life.”
