Jennifer Lopez Gets A Nigerian Name

American actress and singer, Jennifer Lopez, has adopted ‘Ifunanya’ as her Nigerian name.

Nigerian media personality, Drea Okeke suggested the name for her during a recent interview and she accepted it.

Okeke explained that the name suits the American superstar because she “is a certified lover girl” and Ifunanya means love in Igbo language.

Lopez asked, “What is my [Nigerian] name?”

The host replied, “Because you’re a certified lover girl, this name means love. It is Ifunanya. That’s your name, love.

Lopez reckoned, “Ifunanya! Call me Ifunanya.”

Okeke said for Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck, his Nigerian name would be “Obim. That means my heart.”

Lopez concoded, “Obim? I like that. I will call all my kids that.”

Ifunanya is a female name that stems from the Southeastern part of Nigeria, a region known as Igboland.

The name literally translates to “Good to look at”. Typically, someone you look at a lot is deemed your lover in Igbo. So, Ifunanya means Lover.

Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
