Jnr Pope: AGN Lifts Suspension On Adanma Luke

The suspension against Adanma Luke, the producer of the disastrous film “The Other Side of Life,” which claimed the lives of four other people including Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, also known as Junior Pope, has been removed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President Emeka Rollas.

On April 10, 2024, the actor who passed away and four other members of the film team perished in the river after the boat carrying them to the filming site capsized near River Niger Cable Point in Asaba, Delta State.

The AGN banned its members from collaborating with the troubled producer until further notice after the terrible event and punished Ms Luke indefinitely for violating safety procedures.

To safeguard the safety of actors and crew members by averting the recurrence of such accidents, the guild has prohibited films that feature riverine settings and boat rides.

The decisions to lift the producer’s suspension and eliminate the prohibition on filming in riverine areas were made during the guild’s National Executive Council meeting, according to a statement issued by AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu today, August 3.

The statement reads in part; “The National President of the Guild, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, use this opportunity to announce the lifting of the suspension placed on Adanma Luke, producer of the movie ‘Another Side of Life,’ where star actor Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in Anam river.

“The President also lifted the ban on filming in riverine areas but cautioned members to apply all safety standard measures recommended in the AGN Bylaws.”
