Julius Berger Shuts Down Operations In Abuja Following US Terror Alert

Following the international terror alert, construction juggernaut, Julius Berger on Saturday, suspended operations in Abuja and its surroundings.

Recall that earlier this week, the United States and the United Kingdom had issued travel warnings due to potential terrorist attacks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

However, the Federal Government assured the FCT residents and those living nearby of their safety, adding that security measures were in place.

Meanwhile, Julius Berger has now made the decision to stop operations until further notice.

Engineers Lars Bichter and Poul Nielsen, the company’s managing director and corporate security manager, respectively, issued a statement in which they advised their staff to stay away from public places over the weekend.

In response to the persistent security concern in the FCT and Central Abuja, Julius Berger wrote in its statement, “It is advised to avoid all public events within the FCT environment, including supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs and other areas where many meet.

“This advice is applicable from 28.10.2022 in the evening until Monday, 31.10.2022 in the morning.”

As a result, the company reiterated its dedication to relocating its employees to other JBN work or residential locations over the weekend, citing the importance of worker safety.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adah, claimed to be unaware of the development when contacted.
