Since then, Ralf Rangnick has presided over first-team matters, and at the end of the season, he will transition into a two-year consultancy role.

After a deep conversation, Old Trafford chiefs reached a breakthrough in negotiations with Ten Hag on Tuesday, as the 52-year-old set out his long-term strategy for United, which included having the last say on transfers and changing the club’s style of play.

Following David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ten Hag will become the Red Devils’ fifth permanent manager after the era of Sir Alex Ferguson.
