Juventus Ban From European Football By UEFA

Juventus has been barred from participation in the Europa Conference League this season by UEFA owing to financial violations.

Juventus’ ejection from the third-tier Europa Conference League was predicted due to a fraudulent accounting case in which the two-time European champions were already docked 10 points in Serie A. Juventus were knocked out of the Champions League qualification spots as a result of that penalty.

Juventus’ expulsion from European tournaments means that the team will be unable to compete in the forthcoming season of the UEFA Europa Conference League, which they qualified for after falling points.

UEFA also stated that Juventus must pay a €10 million punishment for violating financial fair play (FFP) rules. If the club fails to comply with UEFA financial monitoring criteria in future seasons, an additional €10 million may be deducted.

With Juventus sanctioned, the Conference League spot will now go to Fiorentina, who finished seventh in Serie A last season.

In response to the news, Juventus stated that it regrets the verdict but would not appeal. The club issued a statement that read: “We regret the decision of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body. We do not share the interpretation that has been given of our defence and we remain firmly convinced of the legitimacy of our actions and the validity of our arguments.

“However, we have decided not to appeal this judgment. Despite this painful decision, we can now face the new season by focusing on the field and not on the courts.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
