Kamala Harris Raises $55m In Weekend Fundraisers, Gaining Edge Over Trump

Kamala Harris raised $55 million in weekend fundraisers, boosting her campaign with celebrity support and key endorsements.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign raised $55 million during two major fundraising events this weekend, a campaign official revealed on Sunday. The first event, held at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, brought in $27 million and featured remarks from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as well as a performance by singer Andra Day. The second event, held in downtown Los Angeles, raised $28 million, with performances by Alanis Morissette and Halle Bailey. Celebrities such as Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Demi Lovato, Jessica Alba, Lily Tomlin, and Stevie Wonder were also in attendance.

During the events, Harris highlighted her economic policies, identifying herself as a capitalist and portraying the upcoming election as a critical moment for the country’s future. She expressed confidence in her ability to win, despite acknowledging her underdog status with just weeks remaining before the election.

In August, Harris’ campaign and the Democratic Party raised a combined total of $361 million, significantly outpacing her Republican rival, Donald Trump, whose campaign, along with the Republican Party, raised $130 million that same month. Polls show a tight race, with a survey indicating Harris holds a 47% to 40% lead over Trump, while other polls suggest a closer contest. With the November 5 election fast approaching, both candidates are locked in a fierce battle for the presidency.
