The well-known Nigerian comedian Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has refuted rumors that he and actress and director Funke Akindele are no longer close.
He claimed that there is no conflict between them and explained that it is just more difficult for them to appear together as frequently as they used to because of their divergent careers.
Following rumors that their relationship had ended because they were no longer frequently spotted together, Kamo discussed the issue in an interview with BBC Yoruba.
He said: “Before I met her, she had been like a role model to me; I love her very much. The first time I saw her in person was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa. Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy.
“We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn’t give her a chance. I am also not the same as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also always be called to work on projects. There is no fight; don’t let people paint what doesn’t exist.”
Nigerians have a way of twisting stories and jumping to conclusions. The moment they don’t see two people together, they immediately start speculating and spreading rumors, often without taking the time to get the full facts. It’s a reminder that not everything is as it seems, and sometimes, silence or clarity is all that’s needed to set the record straight.
