Kate McCann Collapses During Talk TV Debate

A live TV debate between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak was scrapped after the host suddenly fainted, sparking an alarmed reaction from the Foreign Secretary.

Ms Truss, who was mid-sentence when it happened, appeared to say “oh my god” before the broadcast was halted as she rushed down from her podium.

It is believed she raced over to try to help host Kate McCann, who is not thought to have been injured in the incident.

Organisers later said the debate, being hosted by The Sun/TalkTV, would not resume following medical.

Talk TV tweeted: “Kate McCann fainted on air tonight and although she is fine, the medical advice was that we shouldn’t continue with the debate. We apologize to our viewers and listeners.”

As news of the incident spread, wellwishers posted messages on social media wishing the TalkTV political editor a speedy recovery.

Mr Sunak wrote: “Good news that you’re already recovering @KateEMcCann.

“It was a great debate and I look forward to getting grilled by you again shortly!”

Ms Truss tweeted a short time later: “Relieved to hear @KateEMcCann is fine. Really sorry that such a good debate had to end. Look forward to catching up with Kate and the rest of the @TheSun @TalkTV team again soon.”

The broadcast briefly resumed, with footage showing the two candidates talking to a small audience in the studio, although there was no sound.

Ms McCann was scheduled to appear alongside The Sun’s political editor Harry Cole, but he was forced to withdraw after testing positive for Covid-19 earlier today.

Mr Cole posted that Ms McCann was “absolutely bossing it”, adding: “Very proud of my friend.”

The incident happened around half an hour into the debate, which saw the two candidates field questions from members of the public.

Earlier the Tory leadership candidates had been asked by a worried voter whether her family should go vegetarian because of the rising cost of meat.

Mr Sunak and Ms Truss were told by a woman named Gemma that price increases have made shopping for her loved ones difficult.
