Kidnapper Seeks Justice From Police As His Gang Defrauds Him Of Ransom Share

Sadu Ardo Bunkawu, a kidnapper, has turned down a part of N200,000 from a ransom of N12 million received by his criminal associates from their victim’s family members.

Bunkawu, who called it a “high level of injustice,” informed the police of the matter so that justice may be served.

He bemoaned the fact that the other six members of the kidnapping group collaborated and only gave him N200, 000 out of the total ransom of N12 million.

Bunkawu, a 28-year-old from Filingo village in Adamawa’s Jada Local Government Area, admitted that they were paid N12 million as ransom when they kidnapped Umaru Diffiwa and Umaru Babidi from the same community.

He was frustrated and believed the operation was a failure for him because even the N200,000 he had received had gone missing on his way home.

He said, “I lost my share of the money while rushing to reach home on time.”

He went on to say that “the money was paid to 7 of us by the family members of the victims; after releasing them, I was called upon and given N200,000 only”.

The Inspector, Rakat Kadams, arraigned him before Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola for suspected criminal conspiracy and kidnapping, in violation of sections 60 and 248(a) of the state penal code law 2018.

Bunkawu pleaded guilty to the offense when the contents of the First Information Report were read and interpreted to him in Fulfulde language.

Following the defendant’s plea, the prosecutor requested that the case be adjourned so that he could finish his investigation and send the case file to the Department of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

Muhammad Abdullahi, the judge, granted the application and delayed the case to April 4, 2022.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
