Killer Herdsmen Send Letter To A Community, Tells Them To Prepare Between December And January

Residents of various towns in Ogun State have received letters from suspected killer herdsmen threatening to break into their houses in an effort to supposedly take revenge.

The people of Asa, Agbon, Ibeku, and Oja-Odan communities in the Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State were terrified by the unidentified herdsmen who were detailed in their notice letter of attack, a copy of which was obtained by a correspondent of The Punch.

According to reports, the latter was issued on Saturday.

The notice letter was put on the walls in certain strategic places within the villages by the herdsmen notifying the people of their plan to attack the communities in both English and Hausa.

The herders warned the community leaders to prepare for their visits to the residences between December and January.

The notice read, “Attention! Attention!! Attention!! to all following communities; Asa, Agbon, lbeku, Oja-odan and its environs.

“You think you can send away our people
from the land they bought in Nigeria, our fathers’ land, you kill our people, you kill their cows, you take over all their properties, you think you can go scot-free. It’s high time we come for revenge.

“All the above mention communities leaders should prepare for the war between December and January. We are coming to take back our father’s property.”

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the development when asked about it.

Oyeyemi acknowledged seeing the letter and reassured the communities that the command was committed to finding those responsible for the heinous conduct.

He said, “Well, I saw the letter purportedly written by a baseless group. We believe it is a baseless group that wrote the letter. We are not losing any sleep because no information is too small to take note of.

“We are not neglecting it. We are working on it to unravel those behind it.”
